The Unitree H2 EDU U1 is a full-featured humanoid robot designed for development, teaching, and deploying scenarios in embodied AI, teleoperation, and manipulation tasks. Its design, with 31 degrees of freedom (6 DoF per leg, 7 DoF per arm, 3 DoF in the waist, and 2 DoF in the head), allows for stable locomotion, torso movement, and precise arm and wrist guidance. The robot's dimensions are 1820 × 456 × 218mm and it weighs approximately 70kg (including the battery). For environmental perception, it uses a wide-field-of-view binocular camera, and for voice scenarios, it is equipped with a microphone array and a powerful speaker. This version is also fitted with a pair of five-fingered dexterous Inspire RH56E2 hands, which provide 6 DoF, 12 joints, and up to 17 tactile sensors on each hand for more precise gripping, better feedback, and finer object manipulation.
The Unitree H2 EDU U1 is built on a combination of 6 DoF per leg and 7 DoF per arm, complemented by 3 DoF in the waist. This allows it to combine a stable stance and centre of gravity transfer with arm and wrist guidance in space. The arms are designed for a rated load of approx. 7kg (peak approx. 15kg) and the joints have high torque – legs up to 360N·m and arms up to 120N·m – which helps when working with loads and during dynamic movements.
In this configuration, the robot is equipped with a pair of five-fingered dexterous Inspire RH56E2 hands. Each hand features 6 degrees of freedom, 12 joints, and up to 17 tactile sensors that provide feedback upon contact with an object. This makes the Unitree H2 EDU U1 more suitable for fine manipulation research, grasping experiments, teleoperation, and advanced embodied AI scenarios where precision, force control, and grip stability are crucial.
For visual tasks, a wide-field-of-view binocular camera is available, suitable for depth perception and environmental orientation. The audio component consists of a microphone array and a powerful speaker, enabling the robot to support voice scenarios and interactive demonstrations.
The platform uses a dual-level computing architecture: PC1 with an Intel Core i5 for platform capabilities and PC2 with an Intel Core i7 for custom development. For more demanding AI pipelines, the H2 EDU U1 is supplemented by a High-Power Computing Module with performance up to Jetson AGX Thor (2070 TOPS). The system supports secondary development and continuous updates via Upgraded Intelligent OTA.
The joint outputs use industrial crossed-roller bearings (for precision and load capacity), and the drive is provided by a PMSM motor with a low-inertia, high-speed internal rotor for fast response and heat dissipation. The construction combines aviation aluminium, titanium alloy, and high-strength engineering plastics; cooling is managed by local air flow.
Power is supplied by a smart battery (quick release) with a capacity of 15Ah (0.972kWh) and a maximum voltage of 75.6V. The battery life is approximately 3 hours.
