The APC Back-UPS BGM2200-GR backup power supply is a specialised solution for powering gaming PCs and workstations. This line-interactive UPS for gaming delivers a true power output of 1320W and an apparent power of 2200VA, covering the demands of high-performance graphics cards and processors. It generates a pure sine wave output voltage, which is a key parameter for the seamless operation of modern power supplies with active power factor correction. At half load, it provides backup for approximately 4 minutes and 19 seconds, which is enough time to save your in-game progress and safely shut down the system. This power supply protects powerful gaming rigs and sensitive electronics from power outages, undervoltage, overvoltage and power spikes. The white finish with customisable RGB lighting complements the aesthetic of modern gaming setups.
The power supply uses a line-interactive topology that effectively responds to instabilities in the electrical grid. The Automatic Voltage Regulation feature corrects undervoltage and overvoltage in real time without switching to battery power, thereby saving the internal battery's lifespan. With an apparent power of 2200VA and a true power of 1320W, this pure sine wave backup power supply can power even energy-intensive components. The pure sine wave output is an essential feature for sensitive devices, especially for computer power supplies with active power factor correction, providing them with a stable and clean power supply identical to that of a standard electrical grid.
At the heart of the unit is a 24V lead-acid battery with a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. The user can easily replace it without needing a service call. Recharging the battery from a full discharge takes approximately 16 hours. For advanced management, PowerChute Serial Shutdown software is available, which communicates with the computer when connected via the USB port. In the event of a prolonged power outage, this software automatically saves your work in progress and safely shuts down the operating system, preventing data loss or file system damage. All operational information, such as load status, battery capacity or estimated runtime, is clearly displayed on the multifunctional LCD screen.
The manufacturer designed the APC BGM2200-GR backup power supply with gamers in mind, which is evident not only from its white finish but also from the integrated RGB lighting for visual synchronisation with other components of the setup. It has compact dimensions of 292.1 × 104.1 × 408.9mm, and its vertical tower design makes it easy to place on a desk or next to a computer case. The operating noise does not exceed 45dBA, so it won't disturb you while working or gaming. A practical addition is a separate USB port on the front panel for conveniently charging mobile phones, game controllers or other portable devices.
A total of six output sockets are provided for connecting equipment, divided by function. Two fully backed-up IEC C13 sockets are designated for key components like the computer and monitor. These provide both battery backup and surge protection. The remaining four Schuko sockets offer surge protection only and are therefore suitable for connecting less critical peripherals, such as a printer or speakers. The integrated protection effectively absorbs power surges. Additionally, there is also data line protection via RJ-45 ports, which prevents damage to the network card or router from voltage spikes propagating through the metallic cabling.
