Aroha Astaxanthin is a natural carotenoid derived from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. In nature, it is known for its strong antioxidant activity and its ability to bind free radicals. It is one of the most studied natural substances in relation to oxidative balance and the cellular environment. In laboratories, the antioxidant activity of this algae has been reported to be up to 6000 times higher than that of vitamin C. [3] Due to its ability to deposit in various types of tissues - including the eyes, brain and skin - astaxanthin has been the subject of intense research into the effects of free radicals in sensitive parts of the body. Due to its ability to absorb blue and UV radiation, it is the subject of research in professional circles in connection with natural protection against oxidative stress caused by sunlight.
