Aspirin Protect is indicated for the treatment of adults suspected of having acute involvement of the arteries supplying the heart muscle (acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina) - but Aspirin Protect tablets must be chewed when used in this way.
Aspirin Protect is also indicated for the long-term treatment of patients with established arterial disease (stable angina, conditions after a myocardial infarction, conditions following stroke and/or transient ischaemic attack) and only after prior consultation with and on the advice of a physician may it also be used to reduce the risk of arterial disease in previously healthy individuals, who have multiple risk factors for these diseases (diabetes/diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure/hypertension, high blood fat/cholesterol levels, Smoking, overweight, higher age).
Alone or in combination with other medications, Aspirin Protect is also intended for use after vascular surgery or other procedures on the vasculature (angioplasty, insertion of the so-called. stents, etc.).
Aspirin Protect may be used for the long-term treatment of patients after a myocardial infarction, or after a stroke and/or transient ischaemic attack without consulting a physician.
Aspirin Protect can also be used (alone or in combination with other drugs) after vascular surgery or other procedures on the vasculature (angioplasty, insertion of the so-called "angioplasty", or other procedures on the vasculature) without consulting a doctor. stents, etc.).
Acetylsalicylic acid in lower doses prevents the formation of blood clots, protecting against blockages in the arteries that can cause many serious diseases, such as heart, brain and other organs.
The package contains 98 enterosolvent tablets.
Dosage and method of use
Always take this medicine exactly as directed in the package insert or by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Recommended dosage of the product: unless otherwise prescribed by a physician, the recommended adult dosage is as follows:
1-3 enterosolvent Aspirin Protect tablets daily.
Always take the lowest dose, i.e. one enterosolvent tablet per day.
Tablets should be taken at least 30 minutes before meals with plenty of water.
If an acute myocardial infarction or an attack of unstable angina is suspected, crush or chew and swallow 2 to 3 Aspirin Protect tablets.
Chewing is necessary because Aspirin Protect tablets are so-called enterosolvent, i.e. they are dissolved and absorbed in the intestinal area - this prevents the drug from having an undesirable effect on the stomach lining. Chewing breaks the surface layer of Aspirin Protect tablets, and this allows for accelerated absorption of the drug.
In other cases, the tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed, broken or chewed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about the suitability of taking Aspirin Protect with other pain, inflammation or cold medicines.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility: if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you think, that you might be pregnant, or you're planning to get pregnant, check with your doctor or pharmacist first, before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy:
If you become pregnant during prolonged use of Aspirin Protect, you should inform your doctor, who will decide the risks and benefits of further treatment. It is currently unknown whether acetylsalicylic acid in early pregnancy harms fetal development in humans. In the first and second trimesters, or when trying to conceive, take Aspirin Protect only after consulting your doctor.
In the third trimester of pregnancy, Aspirin Protect should not be administered because of the possibility of harm to the mother and fetus and prolongation of pregnancy, unless its administration is absolutely necessary, in which case the doctor will decide on its use.
Breastfeeding:
Salicylates and their metabolites pass in small amounts into milk. Because no adverse effects on the infant have been observed after short-term use, it is not usually necessary to discontinue breastfeeding. However, with regular use of high doses, breastfeeding should be discontinued early.
Fecundity:
The product belongs to the group of drugs (called. non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs), which can reduce fertility in women. This effect is reversible and disappears after the therapy is completed. However, no causal link has been established between the use of acetylsalicylic acid and this effect.
Aspirin Protect is not intended for use in children under 18 years of age. Giving acetylsalicylic acid to children during a febrile illness runs the risk of developing the very rare life-threatening Reye's syndrome, which affects the brain and liver.
