In cars with drum brakes, there are also brake shoes, where they perform an irreplaceable function. They are stored directly in the drum brake, pushing it slows down the car. You can handle the simple assembly of the jaws yourself. After lifting the car with a jack, you lock it against movement. Then you remove the wheel and replace the shoe when the brake system is exposed.
