Cars with drum brakes have brake shoes, which makes braking reliable. You will find them in the construction of the drum brake, when the car brakes, it presses on it. Installing the shoe in the drum brakes is easy and will not cause you any problems. You lift the car with a jack and then lock it against movement. Then just remove the wheels and replace the shoe in the brake system.
