An active 5-metre USB 2.0 extension cable, the AXAGON ADR-205. The USB repeater cable amplifies the USB signal, allowing you to connect a USB device much further away than the usual 5 metres possible with passive cables. You can also connect several repeater cables in a series. A major advantage of the ADR-205 extension is its integrated connector for auxiliary power. In most cases, power from the USB bus is sufficient, but for devices with higher power consumption over longer distances, USB power may be inadequate. Auxiliary mains power can solve this problem. The exceptionally compact body of the AXAGON repeater allows for seamless use in electrical trunking or cable management systems. The use of a high-quality shielded cable guarantees high-speed communication and minimal unwanted interference.

Power:
- Power for the cable and connected devices is supplied via the USB bus (bus-power mode 5V–500mA).
- For most connected USB devices, power from the USB bus is sufficient and no additional power is needed.
- The active part of the cable includes a connector (Ø 3.5 × 1.3mm outer × inner diameter) for additional external power of 5V/1–2A.
- A 1.2m long USB A-M / 3.5mm jack power cable is included in the package. The cable allows for powering from a standard mobile phone charger with a USB-A output of 5V / min. 1A, e.g. AXAGON ACU-DS16.
- When powering the repeater cable with a power adapter, you can also connect an external 2.5" drive without needing a separate power supply for the drive.
- For longer USB routes with several repeater cables connected in series, the power from the USB bus may be insufficient even for USB devices with lower power consumption than an external 2.5" drive. In this case, boosting the power by connecting a power adapter can also help.
