Rubellite – a rare variety of tourmaline
Rubellite is one of the longest-used types of tourmaline in jewellery making. Its specific shade is caused by the presence of manganese oxides. In nature, this gemstone forms elongated crystals, and its most significant deposits are in Mozambique, Madagascar and Brazil. The value of the stone increases with its transparency and the intensity of its shade, which is why it is a prized collector's item.
