Octomore is the most smoky whiskey in the world. Unique, full of peat smoke and yet soft. It is not for nothing that she is nicknamed the iron fist in a satin glove. Her scent will almost defeat you, but she will do it gently, with elegant grace.
The ninth line of this iconic whiskey is called Dialogos. Dialogue, spoken or written communication between two or more parties. And the distillery definitely sparked passionate debates with her. She decided to dispel the myth that the older the whiskey, the better. Even though she has only lain in barrels of American whiskey for 5 years, she is confident, proud and has no competition.
Properties
At Bruichladdich, she believes that the quality of whiskey is not just about its age. Scottish barley, local peat, narrow copper boilers and American oak barrels do not need many years. Octomore 09.1 is the first whiskey from the ninth series and sets the bar for everyone who will follow at six-month intervals.
It is smoked at a staggering 156 PPM and rested in a carefully tuned combination of barrels after American whiskeys Jim Beam (51%), Jack Daniels (26%), Clermont (15%) and Old Grand-Dad (8%). This beauty deceives with her body. She is surprisingly mature for her age. Behind the initial strong smoky aroma are sweet tones of oak wood, vanilla, burnt caramel.
The palate is soft, with notes of nuts, caramels and nougat with a subtle touch of coconut and roses. In the end it is significantly smoky with a touch of dark molasses and the sea. Open Octomore 09.1 with friends and enjoy a great dialogue.
