D-Link DAP-X2850

D-Link DAP-X2850
The D-Link DAP-X2850 business WiFi access point is a solution for building wireless networks with high client density and speed requirements. This dual-band access point uses the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard, giving it a combined transfer speed of up to 3548Mbps. This speed is split between the 2.4GHz band (up to 1148Mbps) and the 5GHz band (up to 2400Mbps). It optimises data transfer using 4×4 MU-MIMO and intelligent Beamforming technology, which work together to better serve multiple devices simultaneously and efficiently direct the signal to specific clients. This AX3600 access point is designed for environments with high capacity demands and low latency. PoE+ power and a 2.5Gbps uplink port simplify deployment in business environments and eliminate potential bottlenecks in the network infrastructure.
Key features of the D-Link DAP-X2850 WiFi access point
- Supports 4×4 MU-MIMO and Beamforming for efficient multi-device handling
- WDS with access point and WDS/bridge modes for network expansion
- WPA3 encryption and rogue AP detection enhance network security
- Managed via the Nuclias Connect platform, mobile app, or web interface
- Offers access point (AP), WDS, WDS/bridge, and wireless client operating modes
- One 2.5Gbps and one 1Gbps Ethernet port with PoE+ power
Wi-Fi 6 performance and transfer speeds
The access point uses the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard and operates on two frequency bands simultaneously. On the 2.4GHz band, it offers data transfer speeds of up to 1148Mbps, and on the 5GHz band, up to 2400Mbps. To efficiently manage airtime between connected devices and prevent network congestion, it uses Airtime Fairness technology, which allocates equal time slots to all clients regardless of their speed. This stops slower devices from slowing down the entire network. The combination of 4×4 MU-MIMO and Beamforming technologies further contributes to network stability and performance under heavy loads, as it enables the access point to communicate with multiple clients at once while focusing the signal in their direction.
Network expansion and roaming for the D-Link DAP-X2850 WiFi access point
To create large, seamless wireless networks, the device supports several modes for linking multiple units. These include WDS with access point and WDS/bridge, which are used to wirelessly connect APs and extend coverage. Seamless user movement between access points without connection drops is supported by L2 roaming and 802.11k/r Fast Roaming protocols. These features actively manage the client's transition to an AP with a stronger signal, which is ideal for VoIP calls, video streaming, or real-time data work across corporate campuses without any interruption in connectivity.
Advanced security and network segmentation
Wireless communication is protected by WPA3 encryption, which provides more robust cryptographic methods and protection against offline brute-force attacks. The device maintains backward compatibility with older WPA2 and WPA standards. The access point also offers advanced security features such as MAC address filtering, rogue AP detection, and a wireless station isolation function. This isolation prevents direct communication between clients connected to the same network, which is crucial for securing public or guest Wi-Fi networks. For further traffic segmentation, you can create up to 16 separate SSIDs.
Flexible management and connectivity options
Centralised network management is handled via the Nuclias Connect platform, available as free software for local installation, a cloud service, or a mobile app for management from anywhere. For advanced configuration and integration into existing systems, there is a web interface, a command line interface (CLI), and support for SSH, Syslog, and SNMP protocols. Physical connectivity consists of one 2.5Gbps Ethernet uplink port for connecting to the backbone network, and an additional gigabit LAN port. Power is supplied by Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology compliant with the 802.3at (PoE+) standard, which simplifies installation by running data and power through a single cable.
