Power delivery
The power delivery system of the GIGABYTE Z890 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 motherboard features a Twin Digital VRM design in a 16+1+2 phase configuration. The main VCORE processor power supply uses 60A DrMOS. The VCCGT phase uses 40A DrMOS and VCCSA relies on 60A DrMOS. The design, with two layers of copper in the PCB, efficiently dissipates heat and reduces temperatures under load. Power is supplied to the board by one 24-pin ATX connector and two 8-pin EPS connectors with Solid Pin technology.
Component cooling
The sophisticated VRM Thermal Armor Advanced passive cooling system uses 5W/mK thermal pads and an integrated IO Shield plate. Cooling for the solid-state drives in the M.2 slots is handled by M.2 Thermal Guard heatsinks and the patented M.2 EZ-Flex design. Users can connect four system fans and two water pumps to regulate temperatures within the PC case. There are also two processor fan connectors and a special RL-ILM mechanism to reduce mechanical pressure on the socket.
Memory and storage support
Four DIMM memory slots support dual-channel DDR5 RAM with a total capacity of up to 256GB. The internal memory per slot is 64GB. For data storage, there are four fast M.2 drive slots and four classic Serial ATA III connectors. One of the M.2 slots uses the fast PCIe 5.0 bus, while the remaining three operate on the PCIe 4.0 interface. The board supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 disk arrays.
Network features
Wireless communication is handled by a Wi-Fi 7 network adapter with an Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 controller model and an integrated Bluetooth version 5.4 interface. A directional, high-gain external antenna is included in the package. A wired internet connection is provided by a fast RJ-45 Ethernet port with a speed of 5Gb/s, controlled by a Realtek RTL8126 controller. The rear panel also offers one USB 4 Type-C port with DisplayPort-Alt support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports.
Expansion slots
The motherboard offers one PCI Express x16 Gen 5.0 slot with PCIe UD Slot mechanical reinforcement for installing a graphics card. For other expansion cards, there are two PCI Express x16 Gen 4.0 slots operating in x4 mode. Internal connectors on the board include two Thunderbolt headers for fast data transfers and one TPM connector for a security module. The rear panel also features a DisplayPort version 2.1 video output supporting resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 pixels.
User features and audio
The M.2 EZ-Latch Plus and PCIe EZ-Latch Plus mechanical features enable easy, tool-free installation of components. Sound processing is handled by a Realtek ALC1220-VB audio chip combined with WIMA capacitors, which provide clear 7.1-channel audio. Users can customise the appearance with the RGB FUSION system, which controls one classic RGB LED header and three addressable ARGB LED headers. The rear panel also features a useful Q-Flash Plus button for easy BIOS updates.
