All teas are harvested exclusively by hand
The tea leaves for Hampstead Tea London come from the Darjeeling region of India, more precisely from the Makaibari tea garden. Cultivation in this beautiful region of the subtropical belt began as early as 1859, making the area unique - it is home to the first, still family-run, tea processing factory in the world. All teas are harvested exclusively by hand.
Biodynamic farming method
In Makaibari, the so-called biodynamic farming, which is an alternative farming method described by the Austrian philosopher, educator and esotericist Rudolf Steiner at the beginning of the 20th century. This type of agriculture places particular emphasis on the high natural quality of raw materials and the long-term sustainability of production in a given area. The principle is that farmers manage natural resources carefully and return the nutrients they draw from it to the soil naturally . Makaibari is the world' s first certified biodynamic farming area, thanks to significant assistance from Hampstead Tea London.
Demeter Biodynamic Farming Certification
The biodynamic origin of the products is protected by the Demeter biodynamic farming certification. Demeter certification guarantees the highest possible level of biodynamic agriculture. It exceeds standard BIO certification and guarantees, for example, that no artificially produced substances were used in growing crops, only composted soil produced directly on specific plantations. In biodynamic agriculture, ethical principles regarding environmental protection and sustainability are consistently followed. At the same time, by purchasing a Demeter-certified product, you are assured that fair purchase prices have been paid for the raw materials - ones that fully reflect their value and the value of human labor.
