Barta Jiri: Bach: The Six Cello Suites (2x CD) - CD

Jiří Bárta, the leading and award-winning Czech cellist, presents a complete set of Bach's Cello Suites on his new album. He thus returns to the repertoire he recorded 23 years ago, enriched by a lot of life and performance experience, in a completely new concept - for this recording he used a baroque cello with gut strings, thus bringing the overall sound of the piece closer to its probable original form - instead of expressiveness, meditation and calmness come in. Bárta treats the set as a six-movement symphony ("I remember the first time I played the set many years ago. It was like an epiphany: The individual suites came to me in perfect form as a symphony of six movements, as a story of life in six chapters; completely logical and well-composed composition. ") and he devoted a lot of time and interpretive and sonic care to rehearsing the new performance and preparing the studio recording. The recording aspires to be the serious-music event of the season.
