Darker than the night
Under the candlestick is usually the darkest. And Bosch's reputation is dazzling...
Former FBI agent Terrence McCaleb was given a second chance at life, and after a heart transplant, he chose to hang up his stressful profession. However, the successful criminal profiler is pulled out of his family idyll on an island in Santa Monica Bay by a visit from a Los Angeles M.E. investigator, who can't solve the brutal murder of room painter Edward Gunn. The dead man was no innocent. Moreover, the drastic manner in which he was disposed of raises legitimate concerns among the police that he will probably not be the last victim of a sadistic killer. The deceased was once investigated by Terry's friend Harry Bosch - who is currently testifying in the high-profile trial of a Hollywood director accused of a violent crime - so the respected detective is asked to help. Which may have been a mistake, since some of the clues we found lead to him...
The seventh installment of the popular series of crime novels that spawned the successful Bosch series starring Titus Welliver. This time, however, the solemn investigator has become more involved in the murder investigation than he would have liked.

A suspenseful thriller with all the necessary attributes of the genre. Michael Connelly can certainly write.
