This handbook introduces the reader to the development of internal electrical wiring and contains the basic criteria for the preparation and execution of electrical installations in residential buildings, family homes, and civil engineering structures.
This eighth edition also emphasises the implementation of electrical installations in extensions, additions, conversions, and partial or complete reconstructions of individual flats or entire electrical systems in family homes, residential buildings, or civil engineering structures.
Attention is paid to renewable sources of electrical energy, especially photovoltaic power plants and wiring for connecting charging equipment for electric vehicles (EVs).
The handbook deals in detail with the specific issues of detailed design (implementation project) of internal electrical wiring, including determining suitable electrical appliances based on household parameters. In relation to specific external influences, procedures are shown for the selection and installation of electrical equipment in accordance with ČSN 33 2000-5-51 ed. 3+Z1+Z2 and ČSN 33 2000-5-52 ed. 2 and selected building constructions. The principles for mitigating electromagnetic interference based on ČSN 33 2000-4-444 are also presented here.
The reader will also learn about the conditions for using various light fittings intended for installation in suspended ceilings and furniture, which are currently incorporated into IEC publications.
The content of the handbook is divided into several chapters, which focus on the design of electrical wiring, the description of the main parts of electrical wiring in residential and administrative buildings, switchboards, distribution boards and meter cores, photovoltaic and other renewable sources of electrical energy, electrical devices (their basic classification, use), the installation of electrical wiring (basic rules), and the fundamentals of selecting electrical appliances in the household according to the size of the household and the size of the flat it occupies.
The eighth edition is also supplemented with options for modernising older electrical wiring using new devices and with electrical installations and equipment intended for outdoor use.
The text has been updated according to technical standards and legislative regulations issued since 2019, especially ČSN 33 2130 ed. 4, amendment Z1 of ČSN 33 2000-4-42 ed. 2, which recommends measures for protection against the effects of arc faults in final circuits, and others.
The wide electrotechnical public is thus receiving a handbook that represents the standard of knowledge required for electricians and lead electricians for residential installations and installations in civil engineering (excluding electrical installations in buildings with assembly areas – including cinemas, and in high-rise buildings).
The handbook is intended both as a teaching aid for students of electrical vocational schools and secondary technical schools, and as an aid for preparing for examinations and re-examinations of the professional competence of electricians and lead electricians for residential and civil engineering installations. It will also serve designers, inspection technicians, and others interested in this topic.
