Eve Quartet: Eve Quartet - CD

Eve Quartet: Eve Quartet - CD
The album is a compilation of swing songs and classical pieces that share at least some elements with swing – the walking bass or regular rhythmic structure of Baroque music (Bach, Vivaldi), the harmonic progressions of Impressionism (Ravel), quartal harmonies (Khachaturian), or the danceable Latin American roots (Piazzolla).
Dvořák's American Quartet was undoubtedly inspired directly by African American music and its emphasis on the off-beat. At the same time Dvořák was writing his most famous works, ragtime was emerging from the roots of American folk music, marking the first notable fusion of African American folklore with European music.
