Fugazi: The Argument
LP Record Product information: The band's name is derived from the acronym Fugazi, an American slang term from the Vietnam War era. Fugazi stood for "Fucked Up, Got Ambushed, Zipped In," referring to a hopeless combat situation. Fugazi emerged from the Washington D.C. punk and hardcore scene of the 1980s. They release their music on the Dischord record label, which was founded by Fugazi member Ian MacKaye, previously known for his work with various D.C. punk bands (such as Minor Threat). The band uses the creative freedom afforded by the non-commercial label to uphold certain principles, such as low-priced concerts, all-ages shows, and no large-scale events.
