This film about a Czech man's love for petrol engines and a beautiful French woman takes place sometime between 1895, when the first motorcycle was born in the factories of Laurin and Klement in Mladá Boleslav, and 1905, when their car won the De Gailon race. It humorously tells about the difficult beginnings of motorization in our country and in the world. It is not only a hilarious comedy in which Luděk Munzar and Josef Hlinomaz conquer the French roads and the hearts of local girls, but also a feature documentary about inventors, their fantastic successes and failures.

After the secession of the Sudetenland, signs of aggression against the Jews began to appear in Czechoslovakia. The German occupation and the establishment of the Protectorate will extend the discriminatory sanctions even more drastically. The tragic time is depicted against the background of the fate of the Kaufmann family and many others who lost their rights and freedom and were placed in the Terezín ghetto, where some managed to live to see the end of the war, but from where thousands of others were deported to the extermination camps.
