Lennon John: Imagine (2015 Edition) – LP

"Imagine" is the second solo album by John Lennon and remains his most popular project. Recorded and released in 1971, the album features gentler and less avant-garde tracks than his previous release, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Lennon himself explained that when making the album, he wanted to coat his ideas in a chocolate coating to make them more appealing to a wider audience.

The core of the album was recorded at Lennon's home studio (Ascot Sound Studios in Tittenhurst Park), with some additional parts overdubbed at the Record Plant in New York. The album was co-produced by Phil Spector, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Working materials created during the recording process, documenting the evolution of musical ideas for some of the tracks, were released on a video titled Gimme Some Truth: The Making of John Lennon's Imagine.

The title track "Imagine" became John Lennon's signature song and one of the most famous musical pleas for world peace.

Other popular tracks include "Jealous Guy" (originally written in India in 1968 during the recording of The Beatles' self-titled album under the title "Child of Nature"), "Oh My Love" (a composition co-written with Yoko Ono), and the meditative song "How?".

The Imagine album also features the rock 'n' roll-infused tracks "Crippled Inside" and "It's So Hard", as well as the provocative song "Gimme Some Truth", which first began to take shape with The Beatles during the Let It Be sessions. The political song "I Don't Wanna Be a Soldier Mama" closes what was originally the first side of the vinyl album with a cacophonic blend of tones.

John Winston Ono Lennon, born John Winston Lennon (9 October 1940 Liverpool – 8 December 1980 New York), was a British singer and songwriter, and a member of the band The Beatles. He also made a name for himself as an artist, actor, writer and political activist, significantly influencing the evolution of 20th-century rock music.
