Morcheeba: Blackest Blue - LP

Blackest Blue is the tenth studio album from the British group Morcheeba, who have been on the music scene for almost three decades. In 2020, the group was unable to tour, which gave Skye Edwards and Ross Godfrey “time to write songs and really hone them,” as Godfrey states. “There wasn't so much pressure, so we could really take our time,” adds vocalist Skye Edwards, with her velvety voice. The result is a refined 10-track album, combining the band's previous incarnations and sound – such as downbeat, chill, electro-pop & soul – into one cohesive record that comes from the soul of the band.
And as usual, the group approached the album without any preconceptions, creating an organic piece of work that enhances everything great about Morcheeba. Edwards' lyrics are primarily focused on positivity and overcoming personal adversity.
“Sounds Of Blue” is a stunning track where we hear Skye's sensual vocals in the foreground, soaring high above an ethereal backdrop.
