My brother
A raw family drama full of passion and suspense. The Swedish literary sensation.
Jana Kippo returns to her family farm in northern Sweden. She fled years ago after her brother attacked their father with a spade. Now, her brother is drinking himself to death and her mother, following a stroke, is deteriorating in a care home. The visit revives memories of a childhood filled with violence, yet Jana decides to stay to try and come to terms with her past. But the harsh reality of the countryside, where alcohol has ruled families for generations and no one cares what happens behind closed doors, proves a cruel opponent. Yet hope for forgiveness dies last. Perhaps.
