Liquid Tension Experiment: Liquid Tension Experiment LTD
LP Record Liquid Tension Experiment is the debut studio album by the instrumental progressive rock/metal supergroup of the same name, released in 1998. The group features Dream Theater members John Petrucci (guitar), Jordan Rudess (keyboards), and Mike Portnoy (drums), along with bass virtuoso Tony Levin, known for his work with King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. The album showcases a fusion of complex rhythms, technical prowess, and high-energy improvisations.
Arch Enemy: Wages of Sin
LP Record On "Wages Of Sin", new vocalist Angela Gossow must step out from what seems to be a mighty shadow from the past. After all, she is replacing none other than Johan Liiva, who played alongside Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott in the original death metal combo Carnage, even before his time in Carcass. That she masters this task so brilliantly is incredible! Much like 1999's "Burning Bridges", "Wages Of Sin" is a massive onslaught of complex riffs, alternating between dazzlingly brutal and breathtakingly melodic, while maintaining an intensity rarely found on today's metal records.
Moonspell: The Antidote (vinyl)
LP Record Moonspell: The Antidote is an album released in 2003 by the Portuguese gothic metal band Moonspell. It is the band's sixth full-length studio album, following on from their 2001 release, "Darkness and Hope". "The Antidote" showcases Moonspell's signature blend of dark, atmospheric melodies with heavy metal riffs and gothic undertones. The album was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa, known for his work with other metal bands such as HIM and Sentenced. It features a conceptual story complemented by a book from Portuguese author José Luís Peixoto, which was included in the original limited edition of the album.
Porcupine Tree: Deadwing
LP Record Deadwing is an album by the British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, released in 2005. The album was recorded between December 2004 and February 2005 at several studios in the United Kingdom. It is the band's eighth studio album and the first to feature drummer Gavin Harrison. Steven Wilson produced the album, and Andy Wallace mixed it. It was released on CD, double vinyl, and DVD-Audio. The album was both a commercial and critical success, reaching number 11 on the UK Albums Chart and number 73 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's title refers to the fictional character Deadwing from the concept album In Absentia, which the band released in 2004. Wilson wrote the album's lyrics and co-composed the music with Harrison.
NCT 127: We Are Superhuman Ltd Pic
LP Record On 24th May this year, the Seoul-based global pop group NCT 127 released their new EP, NCT #127 WE ARE SUPERHUMAN, which includes the current hit 'Superhuman' alongside five explosive new tracks. Following their highly acclaimed album "Regular-Irregular" (2018), which reached No. 2 on the Billboard U.S. World Albums chart, the group has explored new sounds and genres while staying true to the style that established them as one of the most distinctive K-pop groups in contemporary music. The record highlights the band's willingness to experiment with trap and hip-hop elements while incorporating Latin American influences into their songs. For the WE ARE SUPERHUMAN album, NCT 127 collaborated with a range of the industry's most renowned producers.
Darkthrone: Soulside Journey
LP Record Released in 1991, Darkthrone's album Soulside Journey is a black metal classic. Featuring raw and aggressive tracks like "Innocent Blood", "Soulside Journey" and "A Blaze in the Northern Sky", this album is a must-listen for any fan of the genre. With its dark and atmospheric sound, Soulside Journey is an essential album for any metalhead's collection.
Stratovarius: Enigma: Intermission II CLR
LP Record ENIGMA: Intermission II features three brand-new songs and, for the first time in the band's history, orchestral arrangements of four carefully selected classic Stratovarius tracks. The album's concept is similar to Intermission, which was released 17 years ago between the two classic albums Infinite and Elements. Across more than eighty minutes, the power metal giant is showcased at its best, centred around the powerful yet emotive voice of Timo Kotipelto. Recorded as recently as 2018 and fresh from the studio, "Enigma" and "Oblivion" are without a doubt two banger tracks.
Atomic Rooster: In Hearing of
LP Record After the success of the album "Death Walks Behind You", a performance on Top of the Pops and a successful tour, it was time for the new stars Atomic Rooster to record their third album. The album is a perfect example of the band's evolution. Less bombastic than its predecessors, "In Hearing Of" is almost funky. The lyrics are – as was common in British hard rock at the time – full of doom and gloom, with occasional allusions to classical music bubbling to the surface. Against this, Atomic Rooster sets Vincent Crane's tasty keyboards and ear-catching melodies. If we had to define the genre of "In Hearing Of", we could say it's not quite metal, nor is it entirely progressive, but it is nonetheless moving and very well executed.
Devourment: Obscene Majesty CLR
LP Record LP, Coloured Tri-Colour Merge: Metallic Gold Brown with Red Oxblood and Bone White Splatter Vinyl.
Ella Fitzgerald: Mack The Knife, Ella In Berlin Ltd Clr
LP Record Ella Fitzgerald's visit to Berlin comes in the middle of her long series of "Songbook" recordings, for which she collaborated with top orchestras led by Buddy Bregman, Nelson Riddle, Bill Doggett, Marty Paich, Frank DeVol and others. However, it seems plausible that her outstanding vocal abilities shine brightest in a small group setting. This also meant that musicians like pianist Paul Smith, with whom she also recorded "The Intimate Ella" at the time, were always in her shadow. Guitarist Jim Hall is better known for his own work, while bassist Wilfred Middlebrooks and drummer Gus Johnson combine the virtues of flexible swing and tight rhythmic control.
