LP Record In 1967, Pink Floyd were synonymous with London's counterculture. In the band's early days, Syd Barrett was its creative driving force. He wrote two psychedelic hits, Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, but sadly his mental health went downhill and he became untenable – especially at live concerts. He went on to record the albums "Barrett" and "The Madcap Laughs". His solo debut, The Madcap Laughs, in particular, showcased his diverse and partly revolutionary ideas, which he wanted to bring to life all at once.
LP Record This album is the result of a collaboration between jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong and pianist Oscar Peterson. It was recorded in 1959 and features a mix of jazz and blues standards. The album has been praised for its relaxed, swinging atmosphere and the chemistry between Armstrong and Peterson.
LP Record The "Man in Black", who passed away in 2003, was synonymous with country music for a good forty years. JOHNNY CASH is an unparalleled record-holder in the world of country music. Since his recording debut in 1955, he recorded over 2500 songs and had almost 150 hits on the Billboard country chart, including 14 number-one hits that collectively held the top spot for 68 weeks. "Greatest Hits And Favourites" gathers 27 of JOHNNY CASH's chart hits and many more across two LPs. Amidst the plethora of JOHNNY CASH records, this is a welcome vinyl showcase.
LP Record The unstoppable rise of British singer Paloma Faith recently switched into fast-forward mode: the release of her debut single "Stone Cold Sober" had to be brought forward by a whole month in her native Britain. This was because local radio stations were playing the song so frequently that it became almost impossible to make curious music fans wait any longer. So, instead of July, the song was released in June. And although the chart performance of "Stone Cold Sober" was severely disrupted by the turmoil in the charts following the death of the "King of Pop", the explosive demand for the song, driven by airplay, clearly showed what a rising star we have in Paloma Faith.
LP Record Released in 1980, Back in Black was AC/DC's sixth studio album. The album was a tribute to Bon Scott, who had died earlier that year. It became a huge success, selling over 50 million copies and becoming the second best-selling album of all time. The album's title track was released as a single and became one of the band's most popular songs. Other popular songs from the album include "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Hells Bells", and "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution". AC/DC's Back in Black is considered one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time.
LP Record Many famous female singers passed through the hands of the renowned soul/R&B producer Jerry Wexler, from Aretha Franklin to Dusty Springfield. He waited 20 years to work with Etta James, saying in his biography, "Etta is a church unto herself, her voice is a powerful influence, her musical personality can express an extraordinary range of moods. A woman used but not used up, abused but never defeated, vulnerable but victorious through sheer force of will." Her legend lives on in her music.
LP Record Burnin' Sneakers is the second studio album from the hip-hop group Bomfunk MC's, released in 2002 as a follow-up to their successful debut, In Stereo. The album features the singles "Super Electric", "Live Your Life" (featuring Max'C), and "Something Goin' On" with Jessica Folcker, who is best known for her international hits "Tell Me What You Like" and "How Will I Know (Who You Are)". The single "Live Your Life" reached number one in Finland and the top ten in Norway and Sweden. The album Burnin' Sneakers is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on flame-coloured vinyl and includes an insert.
LP Record Elton John's "Madman Across The Water" is a 1971 album featuring some of his most popular songs, such as "Tiny Dancer" and "Levon". The album was both a critical and commercial success, helping to establish John as a major force in the music industry.
LP Record Jinjer's Macro is an outstanding album that showcases the band's musical talent and diversity. The album is packed with heavy metal and groove metal tracks that will get your adrenaline pumping. The songs "Perennial" and "Ape" are among my favourites on the album. Both are heavy and catchy, and will have you headbanging in no time. If you're a fan of metal music, then Jinjer's Macro is a must-listen.
