Rock Icons R. E. M. on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the release of the eighth studio album Automatic For The People, they will release a reissue on November 10. The album already contains classic hits as well as the bonus song Photograph with vocals by Natalie Merchant, which was created under the supervision of the original producer Scott Litt and the original sound engineer Clif Norrell .

Automatic for the People is considered by critics and fans to be one of the band' s best albums and is also ranked among the most successful albums of the 90' s. In terms of comprehensive music history , Rolling Stone magazine ranked him among the top 500 albums ever. After the release, it ranked first in Britain and second in America. In total, it has sold over 18 million copies, and the record has also received two Grammy nominations . Thematically, the album touches on mortality and dying and the associated fragility and beauty of life. Many of the songs on the album have become hugely popular hits, including Everybody Hurts, Drive, Nightswimming and Man on the Moon, which even named Miloš Forman' s film. Former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones took part in the orchestral arrangements. Interestingly, when Nirvana singer and Michael Stipe' s good friend Kurt Cobain committed suicide, this album was found on his player.

The four-disc version includes twenty band-selected recordings made during the recording sessions and two completed but unreleased tracks, Mike' s Pop Song and Devil Rides Backwards . The two-disc version is supplemented by a recording of the only concert from 1992, which took place in the 40 Watt Club. The deluxe version includes a 60-page book full of never-before-seen photos and new interviews with band members.

R. E. M. they are one of the best-selling performers of all time, helping to define one era musically. In 2007, they were therefore introduced to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
