American rock band Stone Temple Pilots was formed in 1989 in California under the name Mighty Joe Young. After signing with Atlantic Records, she renamed herself and became a commercial success with her debut album Core in 1992. The album, which in its time skillfully reflected the emerging changes in rock and benefited from the popularity of the grunge subgenre, is one of the best-selling titles of the 1990s. In 2002 the group disbanded and its members became involved in other projects (e.g. Velvet Revolver or Army Of Anyone), later Stone Temple Pilots made several comeback attempts. The central figure of the ensemble was singer Scott Weiland until 2013. Chester Bennington from Linkin Park was also in the band for a short time.
