Thread of Phantoms - DVD

To have a dress by the designer Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) meant the most in the dynamic era of resurgent post-war London. A lady had to have enough money, the proper pedigree and the appropriate manners to go to a party in his models, which were always unique.
But his genius status took its toll in the form of Woodcock's total emotional emptiness. Cut off from the realities of everyday life, as his sister (Lesley Manville) took care of everything practical, he equated all women with seamstresses. He always had a lover or muse on hand, but all she had to do was butter her toast a little louder at breakfast in the morning and she was out of his life.
When Reynolds discovered shy waitress Alma (Vicky Krieps) in a café in a remote port town and decided to offer her the currently vacant seat at his side, he had no idea what he was getting into. This seemingly harmless submissive creature quickly understood the rules of the game and decided to actively fight to avoid ending up like her predecessor. The situation is made easier by the fact that Reynolds has fallen in love with her. However, the onslaught of emotions has begun to have a very negative impact on his work, and the artist's practical sister decides to take decisive action.
