We are staying where children need us most

UNICEF is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic on several fronts: supplying hygiene, protective, and medical supplies to hospitals, working to mitigate the secondary effects of the pandemic, raising awareness about prevention principles, and trying to ensure the availability of personal protective equipment for frontline health workers.

Despite the security, economic, personnel, and logistical challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, UNICEF remains in the world's crisis areas, helping vulnerable children living in poverty and in war-torn countries.

Help protect children from the effects of the pandemic

UNICEF's priority remains to help and strengthen local capacities in crisis areas, war zones, and the poorest countries of the world, where there is no access to drinking water, adequate sanitation, medicines, and appropriate medical care. Due to overburdened healthcare systems, children are not even receiving basic treatment, and vaccination programmes against deadly diseases have been suspended in many countries. It is crucial that UNICEF staff can continue to ensure access to drinking water, sanitation, basic medical care, and education for the most vulnerable children.
