There are three common ways your cat can become infected with internal parasites:
You should not delay treatment unnecessarily and wait until the first signs of infection appear. A serious infestation (parasite infestation) can often break out before the first symptoms appear. The most common symptoms include weight loss, digestive problems (bloated abdomen, diarrhea, vomiting). Worm eggs are very small, but worm bodies or worm cells may be visible in your pet's droppings (worm bodies are spaghetti-shaped and worm parts may resemble grains of rice in the droppings). In cats, vomiting of adult roundworms is often visible as a concomitant phenomenon.
Yes. Owners can become infected through transmission from the infective eggs of certain worms Therefore, it is important to deworm your cat regularly, even if you do not observe any visible signs of infection in your pet. Regular deworming of cats reduces the likelihood of transmission to the owner and helps protect the whole family.
Infection can occur throughout the year. The worm eggs are able to survive for several months and rarely years and can thus potentially infect your pet anywhere. Fleas, which can carry tapeworms, occur year-round.
As part of your adult cat's regular deworming routine, use FRONTCONTROL® WORMER every 3 months(¹). It is important that you do not delay deworming and wait until you see the first signs of infection in your pet. Regular deworming of pets is an inherent duty of a good owner who protects not only his pet, but also himself and other members of the household. How often you should deworm depends on a number of different factors. Experts recommend deworming most cats at least every 3 months(¹). In certain cases, it may be advisable to deworm more frequently. These cases can be multi-risk situations, e.g. if your pet lives in a household with young children or immunocompromised people, or if your pet is exposed to more frequent situations with a higher risk of infection. In more complicated cases and in cases of suspected severe roundworm infestation, we recommend contacting your veterinarian who will recommend an adequate frequency for deworming your pet.
FRONTCONTROL® WORMER kills mostly internal parasites. In cats, these are roundworms and tapeworms
