The Petzl Neox belay device is suitable for sport climbing on both artificial walls and outdoor rock faces, designed primarily for belaying a lead climber. It includes an integrated wheel that makes paying out slack quick and smooth when climbing and clipping quickdraws. When lowering a climber, you'll appreciate the ergonomically shaped handle, which provides comfortable speed control. The device is compatible with single ropes from 8.5mm to 11mm in diameter. Combined with the cam mechanism, it provides a 3:1 mechanical advantage, so less effort is needed to control the lowering speed. The effect remains the same regardless of the rope diameter used. The Petzl Neox Black belay device has aluminium side plates, while the friction plate, cam and wheel are made from stainless steel and the handle is made from recycled nylon.
When the rope is weighted, for example when catching a fall, the wheel locks and activates the cam, which then clamps the rope. The assisted braking thus contributes to more comfortable and safer belaying. A diagram directly on the body of the belay device helps ensure correct rope installation. Standard Petzl belaying techniques are used for both paying out slack and catching falls, and you must always keep a hand on the brake side of the rope. The ergonomic handle makes it easy to unblock the rope and lower a climber smoothly.
