Displacement
Displacement, or volume, determines the load a paddleboard can carry. Shorter boards make up for their displacement with thickness and width, while narrow, thin, long floats may have lower displacement. A family paddleboard (load over 130kg) requires a displacement of at least 320L to avoid sinking and creating resistance when paddling. To quickly calculate the minimum displacement for your body type, multiply your weight by 3. You can use the following table to get an approximate idea of the displacement your paddleboard should have.
