The Teltonika RUT145 industrial router connects end devices with an RS485 interface to IP networks. This metal desktop router is designed for industrial environments and automation operations, bridging the communication gap between legacy devices and a modern network. The device uses the RutOS operating system, which is based on the OpenWRT Linux distribution, providing advanced networking features. Its compact design allows for easy placement in control cabinets and offers stable wireless and wired connectivity.
The model integrates a native RS485 interface to connect multiple end devices on a single bus in multi-drop mode. The serial port operates via a six-pin terminal block connector in a two-wire or four-wire interface configuration. Users can connect industrial sensors and meters directly to the local IP network. Serial functions include console, Serial over IP, modem, or Modbus gateway modes, which eliminate the need for external signal converters.
The built-in Data to Server tool extracts information from various sources and protocols and sends it to a selected server. Support for Modbus, MQTT, DNP3, and DLMS protocols simplifies integration into existing systems. The device converts industrial data for cloud platforms without complex programming or additional scripts. This removes the need for dedicated communication gateways and simplifies the overall network topology.
Network security is managed by an integrated firewall with configurable rules and protection against DDoS attacks like SYN floods. Encrypted data transmission is handled via OpenVPN, IPsec, PPTP, SSTP, or WireGuard VPN protocols. The system supports authentication using X.509 digital certificates and TACACS+ or RADIUS standards. Network traffic can be separated into distinct VLANs based on ports or tags for enhanced security.
The metal body, made of anodised aluminium and aluminium panels with IP30 protection, shields internal components from damage. The device operates reliably in a temperature range of -40 to +75°C with humidity up to 90%. Its compact dimensions make it easy to install in the tight spaces of electrical cabinets and installation boxes. An integrated fixed bracket allows for quick mounting on a standard DIN rail, and its low weight of 140g does not strain the supporting structure.
The Teltonika RMS cloud platform is used for bulk configuration, maintenance, and remote monitoring of device status. Network administrators can remotely update firmware using the FOTA service or securely access the console via VPN. The system sends status alerts to specified email addresses in real-time when defined events occur. Management is possible without a public IP address, and the router also supports platforms like Azure IoT Hub or AWS IoT Core.
A three-pin detachable terminal block connector is used for connecting a DC voltage in the range of 9 to 30V DC. The device also offers the option of passive PoE power via the LAN1 port with the same voltage range. Integrated overvoltage and reverse polarity protection increases operational reliability in unstable industrial networks. Power consumption at idle does not exceed 1W, and under full load, it remains below 2W.
