This kit is a 1:55 scale model of the 1820 HMS Beagle. In the package are wooden parts, rails and a number of fittings, rigging, inflatable boats, sails, plans, etc. All the material is top quality and detailed building plans and instructions with many illustrations are also included. HMS Beagle of the British Royal Navy was built by the Woolwich shipyard on the Thames and took part in three research expeditions in the following years. On the second expedition, which began in December 1831 under the command of Captain Robert FitzRoy, Charles Darwin was also present on board, having gained valuable knowledge and materials through several years of sailing around the world, which he used in his evolutionary theory of the origin of species. HMS Beagle served as a patrol ship off the Essex coast from 1845 and was decommissioned in 1870.

Kits for intermediate builders are suitable for builders who have already built a simple model for beginners and have basic modelling experience. Models of this difficulty are more elaborate, contain more details and are more time consuming to build.

The set contains a complete set of drawings of the model1:1 with the building process, the parts are carefully marked on the drawing and there is also a list of individual parts of the model.

It is recommended to buy tools, glue and paint for the construction. We recommend the Modelcraft Ship Modeler Tool Set (12 piece set) or the Modelcraft Modeler Tool Set (18 piece set). It is also recommended to purchase nylon clamps and indispensable modeling pins. For finishing, precision cutting, gluing of parts and also as a protection of the table it is recommended to use a modelling mat. For bonding, universal dispersion adhesive and Robitronic medium instant adhesive (20 ml) are recommended. For painting acrylic enamel paints. The paints are applied with quality brushes - flat brushes for larger areas and round brushes for details.
