The Sphero BOLT robotic ball offers both fun and learning. It allows you to play games, learn robotics and programming, explore STEAM activities, and much more. It can even be used by educators to assign homework to students. Children can then master STEAM learning with the help of their parents. The robotic ball is ideal for children aged 8 and over. It features an 8×8 LED matrix display that shows characters, vector graphics, and sensor data, while also serving as a playing field for games. The 360° infrared sensor ensures communication between multiple Sphero BOLT balls. This allows you to work with multiple robots, create stories for them, and program their movements and activities.
The Sphero BOLT robotic ball features programmable sensors, including a compass, light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, motor encoders, and an infrared sensor for communication. The integrated compass allows the robotic ball to be automatically aimed and controlled. However, it can also be programmed to orient itself according to a real map. There is also the option of coding using the ambient light sensor. The sensitive sensor reliably detects light and dark, enabling programming based on the surrounding brightness.
You can use the Sphero BOLT in combination with the Sphero Edu app, which contains a library of detailed STEAM and computer science lessons, activities, and programmes. The sections are divided according to different difficulty levels, skills, and content areas. It offers a selection of introductory activities that guide the user through the basics of programming and creating with the Sphero BOLT robotic ball. The app includes a whole range of STEAM-based tools. It uses robots and STEAM activities to develop students' creativity and is compatible with various platforms.
The Computer Science Foundations programme makes learning easier. It is a supplementary curriculum based on the K–12 Computer Science Framework. Three courses and 72 lessons develop skills in Draw, Block, and Text coding. The main purpose of the Sphero BOLT robotic ball is to teach coding through robotics in a fun and playful way. Children will master the basics of robotics, coding, and STEAM learning.
