The TP-Link EAP245 WiFi access point with Omada is designed for reliable coverage in high-density client environments. As a dual-band WiFi access point, it operates simultaneously in the 2.4GHz band at speeds up to 450Mbps and the 5GHz band at speeds up to 1300Mbps. This results in a total transfer speed of 1750Mbps. The 3×3 MIMO technology in the 5GHz band increases throughput for multiple devices at once. This ceiling-mounted WiFi access point integrates the free Omada SDN centralised platform, which simplifies the management, monitoring, and maintenance of large wireless networks from a single interface. In addition, PoE support simplifies installation, removing the need to run separate power cables.

This access point uses the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standard and operates on two frequency bands. In the 2.4GHz band, it provides speeds of up to 450Mbps, suitable for less demanding tasks, while the 5GHz band offers speeds of up to 1300Mbps for streaming high-definition video or transferring large files. To efficiently serve multiple connected clients simultaneously, the device uses 3×3 MIMO technology, which increases the overall network throughput. This makes it suitable for deployment in high-density user environments such as offices, schools, or hotels.
Centralised Omada management
The access point is fully integrated into the Omada SDN platform, which enables centralised management of the entire network. Management is handled via the free Omada Controller software, a dedicated hardware controller (such as the OC200), or through a cloud service for remote access from anywhere. The platform supports the management of hundreds of access points, switches, and routers from a single intuitive interface. This dramatically simplifies deployment, configuration, and maintenance in large corporate networks. Features like Management VLAN further contribute to more organised and secure management.
Advanced security for corporate networks
To protect the corporate network, the device offers a robust set of security features. It supports WPA Enterprise and WPA2 Enterprise encryption standards and 802.1X protocol authentication. For secure guest connections, it provides a Captive Portal authentication with support for login via SMS, Facebook, or voucher. Administrators can also use MAC address filtering, wireless isolation between clients to prevent direct communication between them, and rogue access point detection. The ability to create up to 16 separate SSIDs mapped to a VLAN effectively segments the network for different departments or user types.
Connectivity options
For network connection, the access point is equipped with a single gigabit RJ-45 port. This port supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) according to the 802.3at standard, which simplifies installation by carrying both data and power through a single cable. This eliminates the need to place the device near a power socket. As an alternative to PoE, an external 12V DC / 1.5A power supply can be used. A mounting kit is also included, which simplifies attachment to a wall or ceiling. The device's operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 40°C.
