WiFi 7 performance and speed
The access point uses the 802.11be (WiFi 7) standard and operates on two bands simultaneously. A quad-core Qualcomm processor ensures smooth system performance. The total theoretical speed reaches 5012Mbps, which is split between the 2.4GHz band with speeds up to 688Mbps and the 5GHz band with speeds up to 4324Mbps. 2×2 MU-MIMO technology on both bands efficiently handles communication with multiple clients at once.
Mesh and coverage extension
To extend network range without cabling, Zyxel Smart Mesh MLO technology creates dynamic wireless links between individual access points, thereby expanding outdoor coverage. Unlike standard mesh systems, the NWA55BE uses two separate radio frequencies for backhaul, achieving higher throughput and lower latency. Fast roaming (802.11r/k/v) with Pre-authentication and PMK caching supports seamless client handover between points. The device is also compatible with WDS (Wireless Distribution System).
Network security and management
The unit supports modern WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 encryption standards, including the Enterprise variant. For corporate network protection and access control, it offers advanced authentication features. These include authentication via a captive portal, which can be customised by inserting your own logo, and authentication via IEEE 802.1X/RADIUS. Security features are complemented by MAC address filtering, Layer 2 isolation (L2-isolation) to separate client traffic, and Rogue AP detection, which helps prevent unauthorised network access. The access point can be managed in three ways: centrally via the Zyxel Nebula cloud platform, locally via the web interface in standalone mode, or using the Nebula mobile app for quick setup and monitoring. Cloud management requires no additional hardware.
Connectivity options
The access point uses a 2.5GbE uplink port to connect to the backbone network. This port does not limit the high wireless throughput and supports an affordable upgrade to existing infrastructure. Power is supplied exclusively via PoE (802.3at) through the same 2.5GbE port, which simplifies installation.
