Spatial Presence Sensor with Precise Person and Zone Tracking
The AQARA Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 Kit is a spatial sensor that uses a 60GHz mmWave radar for precise presence and motion detection. It can track up to 10 people in real time, divide a space into up to 8 custom zones, and trigger smart automations based on their movement. With Zigbee and Matter over Thread support, you can integrate it into various smart home ecosystems.
To use the smart features of the product, you need to add the device to the manufacturer's application. You can find more information about the application (name, supported OS, supported languages) and how to add the device to the application in the product manual.
The AQARA sensor can track up to 10 people in real time across multiple zones. The device helps your smart home react to events in shared spaces by recognising not only the presence of people, but also their position.
Based on a high-precision 0.5×0.5m grid, the AQARA FP400 sensor supports detailed zone-based automation and enables independent sensing of individual areas, such as the sofa or dining area.
* Supports up to 8 zones when configured in the Aqara Home app using an Aqara Hub. Zones can be exposed to supported third-party platforms. Direct connection to a third-party Matter ecosystem without Aqara Home setup does not support custom zones.
The Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 combines a next-generation 60GHz mmWave radar with enhanced AI sensing, contributing to more accurate detection, greater interference resistance, and more stable performance in a home environment.
The motion sensor distinguishes human movement from other sources, such as pets or robot vacuum cleaners. Over time, it adapts to the surrounding space and helps reduce the number of false triggers, contributing to more accurate and stable sensing.
The device uses mmWave radar, which can detect presence and motion without capturing visual content. This makes it a suitable solution for monitoring presence in the home where you do not want to use a camera.
With support for Zigbee and Matter over Thread, the sensor offers flexible connectivity via Aqara Home and with other major smart home ecosystems. With a compatible Aqara hub, you can unlock its full potential in the Aqara Home app – area-wide presence detection, up to eight custom zones, multi-target tracking, AI person recognition, and local automations.¹ ⁴
After connecting the AQARA Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 Kit, you can use the Matter pairing code generated in Aqara Home to share supported FP400 functions with compatible Matter ecosystems.² In combination with a compatible third-party Thread Border Router,³ the sensor can be set up in Aqara Home even without an Aqara Hub. You will have access to custom zone settings, detection sensitivity, and absence confirmation time. A full-area occupancy sensor and up to eight custom zone occupancy sensors can also be used with compatible Matter ecosystems.
The sensor has a 120° field of view and flexible options for side, corner, and ceiling mounting. This allows the FP400 to adapt to various room types and layouts, enabling wider coverage with a single device. Proper installation helps to reduce blind spots and ensure more consistent and reliable sensing in different spaces.
Users have the option to fine-tune the sensing for different rooms. With adjustable sensitivity, absence confirmation, and AI-powered zone settings, automations can operate more accurately, naturally, and reliably in daily use.
When combined with the Hub M3, the sensor can automatically trigger preset automations. Below are examples of smart automations.
Aqara sensors expand the possibilities of your smart home, helping it to better respond to events in the space. Individual sensors can monitor presence, vibration, light, or temperature, for example. By linking them, you can create automations that react to the current conditions in your home.
¹ Compatibility with Aqara hubs varies by model, region, and firmware version.
² To use the FP400 with a third-party Matter platform, a Matter Controller and a Thread Border Router supported by that ecosystem are required.
³ Requires a preset third-party Thread Border Router. Availability may vary depending on the device or platform.
⁴ The experiences described in this section are based on setup via Aqara Home. Direct setup on a third-party Matter platform via Thread without Aqara Home is not recommended, as the FP400 is limited to a single full-area presence sensor without custom zones.
