What is Zigbee technology?
From a smart home perspective, this is a different way of connecting individual devices than using WiFi. ZigBee technology connects products based on a ZigBee gateway, which then connects to the internet via WiFi. The Gateway forwards the signal to all products in the available circuit. However, ZigBee devices also pass signals between each other (like mesh networks). For example, the socket on the other side of the apartment does not necessarily have to be connected to the central unit. It just needs to connect to another ZigBee product that is closer to the central unit and take the signal from it. Individual devices can thus function as a so-called repeater (signal amplifier). The advantage of ZigBee network is also its lower energy consumption compared to WiFi.
