Active ingredients

Glucosamine sulphate is a low molecular weight substance inherent to the body, involved in the construction of intercellular cartilage or contained in synovial fluid. It is the starting substrate for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans. Glucosamine is most often combined with chondroitin sulfate and MSM for its synergistic action. Glucosamine sulfate is obtained from the shells of marine crustaceans. Glucosamine sulphate is one of the SYSADOA (symptomatic slow acting drugs of osteoarthritis) which help to restore the metabolic balance in chondrocytes. In osteoarthritis, these agents have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects comparable to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). However, the effect occurs gradually over 4-6 weeks and persists for several weeks after discontinuation. They lack the typical side effects of NSAIDs and make it possible to reduce their consumption.
MSM (dimethylsulfone) is a simple organic sulfur compound that is a natural part of the food chain of most vertebrates. It is found in some foods, grains and alfalfa. Among foods, it is most abundant in milk. Sulfur (a biogenic element) is contained in proteins and is involved in the formation of type II collagen and glucosamines. Organically bound sulphur is essential for the formation of collagen cross-links (reinforcement of collagen by disulphide bridges) and is required for the structure and function of the cell wall. In addition to analgesic and antiphlogistic effects, MSM also has vasodilatory and anti-edematous effects. Its antioxidant and detoxifying effects contribute to the breakdown of damaged joint tissue.
The primary function of vitamin D is to increase plasma concentrations of calcium and phosphorus, thereby promoting proper bone mineralization as well as other bodily functions. Vitamin D is not only important for mineralization and proper bone growth, but has many other functions in parathyroid regulation, the immune system, skin, metabolism of foreign chemicals, and cell development and differentiation. Vitamin D increases plasma calcium and phosphorus concentrations by stimulating specific ion pumps in the intestine, bones and kidneys. These sources provide an adequate supply of calcium and phosphorus to allow vitamin D to increase plasma concentrations to levels necessary for normal bone mineralization.
Vitamin K2 belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins K and has several subtypes, which are usually divided according to the length of the isoprenoid side chain - short-chain vitamin K2 (MK-4 representative) and long-chain (MK-7, MK-8 and MK-9). Vitamin K2 MK7 (menaquinone) has a major effect on calcium management in the body. It extracts calcium from the extracellular space and binds it back to the bones, preventing calcium from depositing in the blood vessels. Vitamin K2 is essential in the process of bone mineralization and cell growth, so it is needed to maintain normal bone structure. It enables the synthesis of osteocalcin from osteoblasts, which is involved in bone mineralization, bone and tooth construction.
