Design and Drivers
The Polk Monitor XT35 speaker uses a two-way design with one 1” Terylene dome tweeter and four 3” bi-laminate paper cone (Dynamic Balance) mid-bass drivers. The crossover frequency is set at 2,500Hz. The cabinet is equipped with a pair of front-facing bass reflex ports to support low frequencies and is designed for low resonance. The low-profile design allows it to be placed under a TV or mounted on a wall.
Sound and Technology
The speaker is Hi-Res Audio certified, enabling frequency reproduction up to 40kHz. The tweeter ensures detailed high-frequency delivery, while the mid-bass drivers provide clean and balanced dialogue reproduction. The frequency response at -3dB is 57Hz to 26kHz. The sound signature is optimised for multi-channel systems, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Connectivity and Compatibility
The Polk Monitor XT35 speaker is equipped with a pair of gold-plated binding post speaker terminals for connection to an amplifier or AV receiver. Its 4 Ohm impedance requires a compatible amplifier. The recommended amplifier power per channel is in the range of 25 to 200W. The speaker is supplied as a single unit intended for the centre channel of a home cinema, but it can also be used in an L/C/R configuration or as part of a surround sound system.
System Type
An active speaker is one that has a built-in amplifier. All you need to do is connect it to a sound source, either wired or wirelessly, to listen.Passive speakers are more commonly referred to as speaker systems. They are intended more for high-quality, loud, and dynamic listening in the comfort of your home and are not suitable for frequent transport. The main advantage of passive speakers is the ability to connect a variety of sources via a separate amplifier.
Number of Channels
The number of channels in speaker systems and home cinemas indicates the number of independent audio signals (speakers) and subwoofers, most commonly in the X.Y format (e.g., 2.0, 5.1). It specifies how many audio tracks are reproduced simultaneously, which determines the spatial experience and bass depth of the system, from basic stereo sound (2.0) to surround sound (5.1 and higher).Specifications
