LP Record In 2010, progressive rock giants Porcupine Tree said their goodbyes with an acoustic concert, and the four musicians each went their separate ways. Frontman Steven Wilson and drummer Gavin Harrison, in particular, remained present and highly active on experimental paths in the music world, so it seemed clear: as regrettable as it might be, these two pioneering spirits had simply outgrown the band. In the autumn of 2021, Porcupine Tree quietly reunited, minus former bassist Colin Edwin, to complete production on a new album, "Closure/Continuation". And to have some fun and make their social media followers rub their eyes at a cryptic sign of life.
LP Record A deep respect for music Yngwie Malmsteen's career now spans more than 40 years. With his new 2021 album, "Parabellum", the Swedish musician proves that even after all this time and 21 solo albums, he is still evolving. Malmsteen is undoubtedly one of the best guitarists in the world. He has also repeatedly shown himself to be an excellent composer and, particularly on his latest albums, has demonstrated a strong vocal presence. One aspect has always shone through in his approach to a new album: a lasting, deep respect for the music he plays. Malmsteen has always done everything possible to bring out all the colours, shades and nuances in each of his compositions. This also holds true for his work on "Parabellum".
LP Record Elder's 'Dead Roots Stirring', released in 2011, is a monumental album in the realm of heavy psychedelic rock. This second record from the Massachusetts band showcases their ability to blend crushing riffs with expansive, melodic soundscapes. The album features five tracks: "The End", "Gemini", "III", "Dead Roots Stirring", and "Knot". Each song offers a journey through dense layers of fuzz and atmosphere, with dynamic shifts that keep the listener engaged throughout. The title track, 'Dead Roots Stirring', stands out in particular for its intricate guitar work and progressive structure. Elder's musical mastery is on full display across the entire album, solidifying their reputation as a force in the stoner rock genre.
LP Record Founded in 1984, Fields of the Nephilim is the creation of singer and frontman Carl McCoy. Their legacy is immensely significant, particularly in the gothic scene, but also in the metal and electronic spheres, and it continues to this day. You can trace their influence in bands like Swans, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky, Wolves in The Throne Room, Behemoth and more. Carl McCoy has even been dubbed the "uncle" of black metal. The sound was recorded and produced by Pink Floyd engineer Andy Jackson, the audio was transferred to analogue 96kHz/24bit by John Dent at Loud, and it was mastered for vinyl by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road.
LP Record The improvements on her very good debut album "Sing Sing Death House" chronicle her struggle for self-realisation and are much more than just punk screams; they are particularly piercing when her throaty growl is fully unleashed. The track "Seneca Falls", a tribute to the women's suffrage movement backed by gravelly guitars and a thundering bassline, features an exceptional, goosebump-inducing, though unintelligible, chorus that soars above the music thanks to the emotional quality of Brody's roar. Otherwise, the music from this band of lip-pierced gutter punks is quite thrilling.
LP Record The Psycho Realm, released in 1997, is the debut album from the group of the same name. The group consisted of Sick Jacken, Duke, and B-Real, the MC and mastermind behind Cypress Hill. The Psycho Realm reached number 13 on the Heatseekers chart in 1997 and is an impressive collection of hardcore West Coast gangsta rap. The rhymes and music exude an undercurrent of menace, which is precisely why the album itself lands so perfectly. Surreal imagery and almost impressionistic music create genuine tension. It's more experimental than any average hip-hop album, a fact that makes it particularly worth a listen.
LP Record Denmark, and its capital Copenhagen in particular, has been a great place for young artists for years. One of these talents is Erika de Casier, a new signing to the long-established British indie label 4AD. Born in Portugal to Belgian and Cape Verdean parents, she grew up in Ribe, Denmark. After appearing on tracks by DJ Central and Sovereign, she began working on her debut album, "Essentials", which was released in 2019. It was included in the best albums of the year lists by Pitchfork, Mixmag, FACT, Crack and Dummy magazines. Now, the eagerly awaited follow-up, titled "Sensational", is ready for release on 4AD. For Erika de Casier, the new album is like an older sister to its predecessor.

LP Record It took almost 20 years for Ritchie Blackmore to return to the stage with his band Rainbow in 2016. "Live In Birmingham 2016" not only documents Rainbow's impressive comeback, but also proves once again why the former Deep Purple guitarist is considered one of the pioneers of his time. Blackmore is musically supported by vocalist Ronnie Romero (Lords Of Black), Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, drummer David Keith (Blackmore's Night), and bassist Bob Nouveau. The setlist combines Rainbow songs like "Catch The Rainbow" and "Stargazer" with Deep Purple classics such as "Burn" and "Child In Time". Fans of the early Mark II and III line-ups will particularly enjoy this release.
LP Record This autumn, one of the favourite films of the band Primus, and Les Claypool in particular, is receiving an unusual tribute: selected songs from the feature film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" are getting a new interpretation. Primus are known for their distinctive rock-funk fusion, but this time they claim to be more influenced by Peter Gabriel and The Residents. The lineup says it all: after a long break, Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde, and drummer Tim Alexander have reunited in their original lineup to record their ultimate tribute to the film "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory". Primus emphasise that this is an explicit reference to the 1971 film version directed by Mel Stuart and starring Gene Wilder.
LP Record In 1939, bandleader Barney Rapp was looking for a singer for his band. From 200 applicants, he chose Doris Kappelhoff. Rapp particularly liked her rendition of the song "Day After Day" and suggested the stage name "Day". Ms Kappelhoff accepted his suggestion. This marked the beginning of her brilliant singing career. Sony is releasing this commemorative album featuring 16 of her biggest and most beloved songs.
LP Record Physical Graffiti: the sixth Led Zeppelin reissue is out now The double album "Physical Graffiti" by Led Zeppelin was released on 24 February 1975. The remastered version is being released almost exactly on the 40th anniversary of its original release. The "40th Anniversary Edition" of "Physical Graffiti" continues the reissue series overseen by Jimmy Page. Almost all of the band's LPs became legendary, but the sixth Led Zep studio album still holds a very special place today. Fans remember this double album as particularly monumental, with tracks like "Kashmir" and "Trampled Under Foot". "Physical Graffiti" continues the reissue approach established last year.

The Last of Us became one of the best-selling video games, selling over 1.3 million copies within its first week. The game won several Game of the Year awards and has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made.
LP Record Sub Pop continues its quest to constantly remind everyone that Nirvana had a record before "Nevermind", presenting an affordable, non-deluxe version of the single LP "Bleach", Nirvana's debut album. "Bleach" was originally released on Sub Pop in 1989 and was particularly recommended to retailers after "the record with the naked baby on the cover" sold so exceptionally well in 1991. Sub Pop is therefore now making a special recommendation to order the single LP version of "Bleach".
LP Record Released in 2001, Slayer's album God Hates Us All was a return to form for the thrash metal band. The album was darker and heavier than their previous record and was praised by fans and critics alike. The title track, "God Hates Us All", was a particularly scathing attack on religious hypocrisy, while other songs like "Dead Skin Mask" and "Disciple" dealt with dark themes such as murder and suicide. The album was a commercial success and helped to cement Slayer's position as one of the most influential metal bands of all time.

LP Record Guaranteed is the ninth studio album from Level 42, and it's a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. Mark King's and Mike Lindup's vocals have never sounded better, whether together or separately, than on this album. By bringing in musicians like Wally Badarou, Gary Barnacle, Allan Holdsworth, and Gary Husband, they managed to deliver an album of exceptional pop/funk, the likes of which they had never recorded before. Particularly impressive are the slower grind grooves that uphold the funk tradition in songs like "Overtime", "Set Me Up", "Her Big Day", and the Afro-Latin-influenced "The Ape", which are strongly reminiscent of the musical diversity and energy that first brought the band to the public's attention.
LP Record The greatest hits in one collection Einstürzende Neubauten have been on the scene for over 35 years. It's high time for a career retrospective. In 2016, the Berlin band fulfilled this wish and are presenting a "Greatest Hits" compilation for the first time in their career. This is a selection of their favourite songs, a cross-section of their discography. It includes classics like "Die Interimsliebenden" and "Salamandrina" from the 1993 album "Tabula Rasa", and "The Garden" from the album "Ende Neu" (1996). You can also look forward to newer hits like "Let's Do It A Da Da" and "Nagorny Karabach" from the album "Alles wieder offen" (2007) and "How Did I Die?" from the 2014 album "Lament". A particular highlight is a new version of the song "House of Lies" from the 1989 album of the same name.
LP Record Featuring two big names on the LP sleeve was a sales-boosting idea even back in 1962, which is how pianist Duke Ellington came to join John Coltrane's quartet of the time. The quartet primarily played Ellington's compositions, and this marketing concept actually led to a remarkable album where the two jazz giants treat the material with great respect. The title track, In a Sentimental Mood, is a particular triumph thanks to the collaboration between Ellington and Coltrane, but Take the Coltrane and Big Nick also create their own magic. Alongside Duke Ellington on piano and John Coltrane on tenor and soprano saxophone, Coltrane's quartet features Jimmy Garrison on double bass and Elvin Jones on drums.
LP Record Even before the pandemic turned the world upside down, songwriter Florence Welch was fascinated by a very particular historical phenomenon: choreomania. This describes the Renaissance-era gatherings of large groups of people, sometimes thousands, who would dance wildly together – until they reached complete exhaustion, collapsed, and died. Florence could identify all too well with this image, having spent over a decade touring non-stop, dedicating herself to her songs on stages across the globe, night after night. Florence's love of dance runs like a common thread through the entire new album.
LP Record In 1967, Pink Floyd were synonymous with London's counterculture. In the band's early days, Syd Barrett was its creative driving force. He wrote two psychedelic hits, Arnold Layne and See Emily Play, but sadly his mental health went downhill and he became untenable – especially at live concerts. He went on to record the albums "Barrett" and "The Madcap Laughs". His solo debut, The Madcap Laughs, in particular, showcased his diverse and partly revolutionary ideas, which he wanted to bring to life all at once.

Her dark, appealing voice and soulful compositions will enchant any listener.
LP Record Savatage's 1989 album "Gutter Ballet" marks a significant turning point in the band's musical direction, showcasing a shift towards a more theatrical and progressive style of heavy metal. The album is known for its complex arrangements and dramatic elements, influenced by the introduction of pianist and co-songwriter Jon Oliva, who brought with him a passion for classical music and Broadway. The title track, "Gutter Ballet", is particularly famous for its piano melody and has become one of the band's signature songs.
LP Record This 180g vinyl LP – the second in the new Stockfisch In The Groove series – offers both sides of Sara K.'s work: her impressive (solo) live performances and her beautiful studio recordings. Reviews,, It is certainly an exaggeration to say that the vinyl cut gives the musician a whole new aura, but it does make her ballads feel particularly intimate, with the strings shimmering without any artificial undertone gloss. In general, the sound quality is exquisite – homogenous, exceptionally detailed, and "multi-stringed" in the best sense of the word. If you have a high-end system, you will get a live feel like never before. A worthy LP monument to the Sara K. Stockfisch era. " (Stereo, July 2011),, Nine years of Sara K. in ten tracks. Nothing surprising, but perfectly produced.
