LP Record If you want a long career in music, you need to surprise the people who love you – and surprise yourself. Recorded in singer and guitarist James Mercer's basement studio, Phil Ek's Seattle studio, and in Oregon City with engineer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, U2), Wincing the Night Away is the third studio album from The Shins. It's also the sound of a band growing up and branching out. Mercer's infectious, indelible melodic style is still at the core, unchanged. But around it, anything can happen – and in this case, it does. While the vocals channel the spirit of Morrissey, "Sea Legs" marries a loping hip-hop beat with a lush melody and searing guitars.

In addition to the standard CD, "The Soft Parade (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)" is available as an expanded set with three CDs and an LP.
