The SONOFF Bridge Max Smart Home Bridge-M central unit connects smart home devices that use different communication technologies and ecosystems. It acts as a Matter Bridge and Zigbee Gateway, allowing compatible Zigbee, BTHome, eWeLink, and Home Assistant devices to be integrated into Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and other Matter platforms. The Zigbee gateway supports up to 128 devices and can connect to the home network via 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The built-in local web interface allows you to manage the Matter Bridge function directly on your local network.
The SONOFF Bridge Max uses the Matter Bridge to integrate compatible Zigbee, Wi-Fi, eWeLink-Remote, and BTHome devices into Matter-supported platforms. This allows you to connect individual smart home elements to systems like Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings and use them together in a single ecosystem. The range of available functions varies depending on the specific device and target platform.
The built-in web interface makes the Matter Bridge settings accessible directly through your local network. You don't need to install an app, create a cloud account, or have an active internet connection for the local Matter Bridge setup itself. The web interface is used to configure the device and synchronise it via the Matter Bridge, not to directly control connected devices. When synchronising Wi-Fi devices from your eWeLink account via the web, you can log in to your eWeLink account.
The Bridge Max creates a Zigbee network for sensors, switches, sockets, and other compatible smart home elements. Up to 128 Zigbee devices can be connected to a single central unit. It supports SONOFF devices as well as a range of products from other brands, though specific compatibility and available functions may vary between individual devices.
Thanks to the Matter Bridge function, you can also bring devices that don't directly support a particular platform into compatible ecosystems. Synchronised devices can then be used alongside other elements in Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings. For the Apple ecosystem, supported devices are accessible via iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or CarPlay, for example.
The SONOFF Bridge Max allows for connection with Home Assistant via MQTT. Zigbee devices connected to the gateway can be synchronised with Home Assistant and incorporated into local automations. At the same time, the Matter Bridge enables compatible devices from Home Assistant to be made available to other supported Matter ecosystems.
The Bridge Max can be connected to compatible Zigbee sensors and used as part of a smart home security system. When a security event is configured, the central unit can activate the built-in siren with a volume of up to 90dB and send a notification to your mobile phone. The connected sensors can also be used as triggers for automations.
Sensors, switches, and other compatible elements can be linked together into smart scenes. An event recorded by one device can automatically trigger a reaction from another smart home element, such as turning on a light when motion is detected or switching on another device when a monitored value changes.
The SONOFF Bridge Max connects to your home network wirelessly or via a cable. The Wi-Fi supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards and operates on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. For a wired connection, there is an RJ45 Ethernet port with a speed of 10/100Mb/s. Wi-Fi can be set up via the eWeLink app.
The Bridge Replacement feature makes it easy to replace an older SONOFF ZBBridge-P central unit. You can transfer connected Zigbee devices, created scenes, and security settings to the Bridge Max without having to re-pair individual elements. The Bridge Replacement function is designed for migrating from ZBBridge-P and does not support the same transfer method from iHost or ZBBridge-U, for example.
