Origin and properties of lavender amethyst
Lavender amethyst is a variety of quartz that forms in the cavities of volcanic rocks. It gets its characteristic lavender hue from the effects of natural ionising radiation on trace amounts of iron within the crystal lattice. This mineral has been prized since ancient times when it was used to create royal ornaments. In the psychology of colour, light purple is perceived as a symbol of wisdom, prudence, and harmony, which adds another dimension to the jewellery.
