Authentic classic electric piano sounds, perfect for live performances

Special attention has been paid to the electric piano sound. It doesn't just respond to the keypress, but also generates all the subtle noises typical of original electric pianos when the key is released. A total of six variations are available, including sounds frequently used in 60s and 70s pop music, as well as soul.

30 high-quality sounds and three effects

In addition to acoustic and electric piano sounds, the SP-280 contains a total of 30 high-quality sounds – you'll find organs, strings, and many more. There's a Layer Mode, which lets you play two sounds at once, and a Partner Mode, which can split the keyboard into two sections so that two players can play side-by-side, even in the same octave. They can also use the two headphone outputs that the SP-280 provides. You can choose from three effects: brilliance to adjust the brightness of the tone, reverb to simulate the natural sound reflection in a concert hall, and chorus.

Powerful speaker system

The SP-280 is equipped with two amplifiers delivering 2×22 Watts of power, the most in its class. And because their bass is truly deep and the highs are beautifully crisp, the amplifiers contribute to an overall unique sound quality. Since the built-in sound system is so powerful, it will be sufficient for smaller gigs on its own, without the need for a separate external PA system.

Stylish design

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the SP-250, which was praised for its design, the SP-280 continues Korg's tradition of stylish digital pianos. Its modern curves will fit perfectly into any interior, and attention has even been paid to the back panel, so it looks great on stage. You can place it anywhere, not just with its back to a wall like other instruments.

Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH)

The Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) system reproduces the same playing feel as a traditional piano with a hammer action – so the keys in the lower octaves are heavier, and the higher ones are lighter, just like on a real piano. The Key Touch Control function lets you set three different levels of dynamic response to tailor the keyboard precisely to your needs.

LINE IN and LINE OUT connectors

You can connect a portable audio player (or similar device) to the LINE IN jack (stereo mini-jack) and play its output through the SP-280's speakers. Because you can play on the keyboard along with this playback, it's an ideal combination for live performances. The LINE OUT jacks (phone jacks) can be used to connect to an external PA system or a recording device.

Pedal effects

The instrument comes with a damper pedal, the effect of which varies with how hard you press it – just like on a traditional piano. You can also purchase a PU-2 pedal unit with two additional pedals (soft and sostenuto), giving you a complete set of pedals just like an acoustic piano.

MIDI capability

The SP-280 supports the MIDI standard. This is used to transfer music data between electronic instruments and computers. Via MIDI, you can, for example, control other connected devices from the instrument you are playing.
