LP Record Pianist Dave Brubeck, born in 1920, is an American jazz legend. He founded the Dave Brubeck Quartet in California in the early 1950s, which quickly became an insider tip on the jazz scene in the Sunshine State. In 1961, Brubeck managed to reach the heights of the pop charts with "Take Five", a track composed by his saxophonist. The piece, played in 5/4 time, was the first jazz record to sell over a million copies. "Take Five" comes from the album "Time Out", released back in 1959, with which Brubeck presented one of the definitive milestones in jazz.
LP Record Unhealthy all the way to the top British pop sensation Anne-Marie releases her album "Unhealthy" at the end of July. It's her third LP and the follow-up to her successful 2021 album, "Therapy". On her new album, Anne-Marie once again invites us into her life, offering a glimpse into her perfectly imperfect world. In her new songs, Anne-Marie explores past relationships that didn't always end harmoniously. The songs take us on a journey from brokenness to contentment. On "Unhealthy", we find an artist standing tall, learning to love this new version of herself: more defiant, bolder – and happier than ever before.
LP Record The Sisters of Mercy split up in 1985 after their US tour. They returned in November 1987 with the album "Floodland", which reached number 9 in the UK charts. The album features the hit singles "This Corrosion" (UK #7), "Dominion" (UK #13), and "Lucretia My Reflection" (UK #20).
LP Record The Grammy-nominated heavy rock band Baroness returns in 2023 with their new album, "Stone". On their sixth album, "Stone", the Philadelphia quartet – John Baizley (guitar/vocals/illustration), Gina Gleason (guitar), Nick Jost (bass), and Sebastian Thomson (drums) – streamlines the expansive, multi-genre vocabulary of their critically acclaimed predecessor, Gold & Grey (2019, DE# 14). It's still very much Baroness – just refocused for greater efficiency and re-evaluated with the benefit of stability. Standout tracks from "Stone" like "Last Word", "Beneath the Rose", "Shine", and "Anodyne" reflect a thoughtful, groovy, and effortlessly riotous turmoil. While Baroness wrote "Stone", Baizley recorded and pre-mixed the album.
LP Record British rock band Royal Blood has announced the release of their new album "Back To The Water Below" in 2023. Royal Blood are, above all, sharp vocals, wild drums and a driving bass, escalated with effects to the point where it sounds like a bass and a snotty guitar at the same time. Their ferocious rock sound lies somewhere between Led Zeppelin, White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age. "Back To The Water Below" heralds a new chapter for Royal Blood. It's the story of two friends, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, and their passion for full-throttle, thrilling hard rock that has led them on an extraordinary adventure. It sounds like a fairy tale, and it is. So much so that it only happens once in a blue moon.
LP Record In 1977, Television released their debut album "Marquee Moon". Although it sold fewer than 80,000 copies in the US and barely broke the top thirty in the UK, it is widely regarded as one of the seminal albums of the punk era. F. Schöler's review in Stereo 3/88: "The oft-imitated masterpiece of the American new wave of rock, finally in a fitting transfer." "'Marquee Moon' is a solid collection of angst-ridden songs, but the searching guitar work and the sharp, unsettling tone make it indelible. The title track is a true tour de force: 'Marquee Moon' forges a spiritual connection between Allman Brothers-style virtuosity and Velvet Underground introspection. There is nothing else quite like it in rock."

The album reached number two in the album charts in the UK and Scotland and has already been streamed over 400 million times. The first was the title track, "Jolene", which became a top-ten hit in 1976 and has been covered by many artists, including Olivia Newton-John, and later The White Stripes, and more recently BossHoss and Ilse Delange. The second famous song is, of course, "I Will Always Love You", although it took some time to achieve international acclaim. Linda Ronstadt covered it in 1975, and in 1992, it became a worldwide smash hit thanks to Whitney Houston's version in the film The Bodyguard.
