LP Record After the success of the album "Death Walks Behind You", a performance on Top of the Pops and a successful tour, it was time for the new stars Atomic Rooster to record their third album. The album is a perfect example of the band's evolution. Less bombastic than its predecessors, "In Hearing Of" is almost funky. The lyrics are – as was common in British hard rock at the time – full of doom and gloom, with occasional allusions to classical music bubbling to the surface. Against this, Atomic Rooster sets Vincent Crane's tasty keyboards and ear-catching melodies. If we had to define the genre of "In Hearing Of", we could say it's not quite metal, nor is it entirely progressive, but it is nonetheless moving and very well executed.
LP Record The Commodores are an American funk and soul group who have released nine studio albums and thirty-six singles since their formation in 1976. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1977 and reached number twenty-six on the Billboard 200 chart. The group's second album, Fancy Dancer, was released in 1978 and peaked at number seventy-six on the Billboard 200. Their third album, Heroes, came out in 1979 and charted at number sixty-six on the Billboard 200. The band's fourth album, Three Times a Lady, was released in 1978 and reached number one on the Billboard 200. Their fifth album, Natural High, was released in 1980 and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.
LP Record In 1974, Herbie Hancock was propelled into the spotlight by the success of his single "Chameleon". The band, featuring Mike Clark on drums, embarked on extensive tours across the United States, performing at festivals and large concert halls for ever-growing and more diverse audiences. The quintet quickly solidified into a tight unit with astonishing grooves devised by Paul Jackson and Mike Clark, who had played together in Oakland and the Bay Area before joining Hancock. With this line-up, the band took off at warp speed, as evidenced by Robert Springett's cosmic artwork on the cover of the album Thrust, recorded in San Francisco in the summer of 1974.
LP Record Metal Church's third album, Blessing in Disguise, was released in 1989. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 74 on the Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single, "The Human Factor", became a moderate hit, peaking at number 21 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Blessing in Disguise was well-received by critics and was later ranked at number 488 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
LP Record Guaranteed is the ninth studio album from Level 42, and it's a pleasure to listen to from start to finish. Mark King's and Mike Lindup's vocals have never sounded better, whether together or separately, than on this album. By bringing in musicians like Wally Badarou, Gary Barnacle, Allan Holdsworth, and Gary Husband, they managed to deliver an album of exceptional pop/funk, the likes of which they had never recorded before. Particularly impressive are the slower grind grooves that uphold the funk tradition in songs like "Overtime", "Set Me Up", "Her Big Day", and the Afro-Latin-influenced "The Ape", which are strongly reminiscent of the musical diversity and energy that first brought the band to the public's attention.
LP Record In the late 1960s, the Canterbury area was home to a vibrant psychedelic music scene that revolved around the band The Wilde Flowers. Recordings of the band itself are almost non-existent, but after its break-up, other influential bands rose from the ashes: Gong, Soft Machine, and especially Caravan. Caravan's self-titled debut was released in 1968. It is considered a seminal album that reflects the quirky yet experimental mood of the era. Their sound went far beyond the shifting musical styles of the contemporary underground, and it was this that set Caravan apart from other bands in their genre.
LP Record A classic on vinyl Last year, the Therapy? classic "Infernal Love" celebrated its 25th anniversary. Now, fans of the British rock band can look forward to a vinyl reissue in 2021. "Infernal Love" is the fourth album from Therapy?, originally released in 1995, just one year after their breakthrough album "Troublegum". Although "Infernal Love" marked a clear evolution in their sound, it also became a huge success, reaching number nine in the UK charts. The most well-known songs include the singles "Stories", "Loose", and "Diane", a cover of the American punk band Hüsker Dü. Finally back on vinyl: "Infernal Love" by Therapy?
LP Record Silverchair's 1995 album, Frogstomp, is a grunge classic. It's hard to believe such a young band could create such a powerful and timeless album, but that's exactly what happened with Frogstomp. The album is packed with angst-filled anthems like "Tomorrow" and "Pure Massacre", and it's easy to see why it was so popular with teenagers and young people in the 90s. Even today, the album holds up well and is still a great listen.
LP Record Status Quo have been at the top of the music scene for a long time. With the most hits in the British charts, the most appearances on BBC's Top of the Pops, and a total of 25 top-ten albums, Status Quo are undoubtedly one of the longest-running bands in the UK. The group started out in 1962 as a beat band called The Spectres. Around 1967, they discovered psychedelic rock music and changed the band's name to Traffic, later changing it again to Traffic Jam. That same year, Rick Parfitt joined the band, which led to another name change that has stuck to this day: Status Quo.
LP Record "Impermanent Resonance" is a solo album by James LaBrie, best known as the vocalist for the progressive metal band Dream Theater. The album was released on 29 July 2013 and showcases LaBrie's versatility as a singer and songwriter outside of his work with Dream Theater. The record features a mix of melodic metal and progressive rock elements across a total of twelve tracks, including "Agony", "Holding On", "Letting Go", "Undertow", "Slight Of Hand", "Back On The Ground", "I Got You", "Lost In The Fire", "Destined To Burn", "Say You're Still Mine", "Amnesia", and "I Will Not Break".
