E-flite Twin Otter 0.45m SAFE Select BNF Basic

E-flite Twin Otter 0.45m SAFE Select BNF Basic
Popular Canadian twin-engine aircraft, processed by E-flite as a micro RC model UMX Twin Otter BNF Basic, for owners of Spektrum transmitters. It is powered by a pair of brushless motors with counter-rotating propellers, the battery is a single-cell LiPol 800mAh. The model is space-saving.The De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter is a Canadian twin-engine turboprop for 12 to 20 passengers with a fixed nose gear. The DHC-6 (CF-DHC-X) was flown on 20 May 1965, serving mainly in fire reconnaissance and fire team transport. The E-flite UMX Twin Otter is an ultra-micro scale replica that can be a perfect first twin engine model for intermediate to experienced RC pilots. It is easy to fly and features functional LED navigation and landing lights, two brushless motors with counter-rotating 3-blade propellers - plus it can be equipped with optional floats for flying from pools, ponds and lakes. The model is compatible with common and affordable 1S 500-800 mAh batteries. E-flite UMX Twin Otter.

Advantages with the Bind-N-Fly version
Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting your model in the air fast and with the best possible handling experience, and easier than ever before. The model is completely assembled with drive, servos and receiver 2.4 GHz spectrum, so that's it, what you have to do, is to pair the receiver to a compatible Spektrum transmitter, charge your battery and fly!

Exclusive technology and telemetry
The model features Spektrum's exclusive AS3X and SAFE Select technologies. The AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence and add a sense of locked-in feel that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger aircraft. The SAFE Select option offers pitch and roll limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off with the flip of a switch to make you feel as safe as possible with the Twin Otter. UMX Twin Otter is equipped with a control unit that includes two AC controllers and a Spektrum receiver that provides real-time flight battery voltage telemetry, compatible transmitters equipped with Spektrum AirWare (including DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, DX9, NX6, 8 a 10, iX12, iX14, iX20 and others) during flight.

Two powerful brushless motors
Two powerful brushless motors with counter-rotating three-bladed propellers have an excellent power-to-weight ratio and long flight times with common and affordable 1S 500-800 mAh batteries. Differential thrust offers greater control options for easy handling on the ground or performing aerobatics. UMX Twin Otter can take off from reasonably smooth surfaces using the tricycle landing gear or you can take off from water, such as pools, ponds and lakes, using the optional float kit. And no matter what equipment you choose to fly with, both are easy to install and can be replaced in minutes. Realistic looking LED landing and navigation lights are factory installed and powered by a flight battery to enhance your flying experience. The UMX Twin Otter is fully assembled and ready to fly right out of the box. It features Spektrum's industry-leading 2.4GHz technology that pairs with your Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 5+ channel transmitter.

Durable construction and SAFE technology
Thanks to the EPS construction, the model has a lightweight yet durable airframe. In the event that you damage any parts of the model aircraft and are unable to repair them, a range of spare parts are available. Use exclusive AS3X 3-axis stabilization technology and the ability to activate SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) protectionwhich increases flight safety for novice pilots. No programming is required, simply remove the mating connector during model pairing as instructed in the manual. The SAFE function will provide flight envelope limitation and ensure extreme flight limits. When SAFE is selected, it is activated: The pitch, roll and sink limit will not allow excessive pitch and roll, for example at take-off or more pitch in a turn. Automatic leveling immediately returns the model to level flight when the control levers are released to neutral.

Recommended accessories
For commissioning you need Spektrum DSM2/DSMX transmitter, 1S 3.7V 500-800mAh LiPol battery with JST-RCY connector (e.g. Spektrum LiPo 3.7V 800mAh 30C JST) and compatible Spektrum Micro 6-port DC/USB charger. To connect the battery to the charger, a Spektrum IC3 to JST conversion cable is required. For pairing the BNF version of the model, Spektrum's advanced programmable transmitters, which support DSMX technology and offer advanced features for convenient operation, are recommended: Spektrum DX6e DSMX - 6-channel transmitter with telemetry and memory for 250 models. Spektrum NX6 DSMX - modern 6-channel transmitter with Smart technology support, USB port and WiFi connection. Spektrum NX8 DSMX - 8 channel transmitter with enhanced functionality, Smart technology, USB and WiFi connectivity. For quick repairs to the model, it is ideal to use a fast curing 4 minute epoxy, such as Speed Epoxy 4 min. 71 g to ensure a strong and fast connection. The basic equipment should also include a set of Allen screwdrivers in 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 mm, a handy set of Modelcraft Phillips screwdrivers (6 pieces), Modelcraft mini pliers stored in a portable case and a cutting knife with an A6 size washer, suitable for precision work on small adjustments and repairs. From a safety point of view, it is recommended to use protective packaging for LiPol batteries, which significantly reduces the risk when transporting and charging them. While the batteries provide high performance and capacity at low weight, they are also susceptible to mechanical damage.
