Design and compatibility
The drive's construction, by designer Neil Poulton, emphasises functional aesthetics. The body consists of at least 25% aluminium and plastic. Thanks to the universal USB-C connector, you can connect it to computers, tablets, and phones without needing to install any extra drivers. It works fully with Windows and macOS systems, as well as with iPads and iPhones equipped with this port.
Backup management with LaCie Toolkit software
The included LaCie Toolkit software is used for managing and automating backups. The application simplifies protecting your data by offering several backup modes. You can perform a one-time folder synchronisation or set up schedules for automatic file backups at daily, weekly, or monthly intervals. The program also supports data synchronisation across multiple devices, keeping your projects consistent.
Data security on the LaCie Mobile Drive v2 5TB
Data stored on the drive is protected by Seagate Secure technology, which operates on the principle of hardware encryption. This mechanism secures the drive's contents with an access password and protects your files from unauthorised access without affecting the device's performance. The product also includes three years of Rescue Data Recovery Services, which helps with professional recovery of lost files in case of unexpected drive failure or accidental damage.
