PRAGANO
Few believed that our players, led by new coach Radim Rulík, would be contenders for the top spots. But the incredible became a reality! A mixture of team spirit, fighting spirit, self-sacrifice, the necessary bit of luck, but also undeniable quality, led the Czech hockey players to the very top.
They got through the group stage as they needed to, paid back the Americans for previous defeats at home championships in the quarter-finals, unleashed a barrage of goals on the previously dominant Swedes in the semi-finals... and in a thrilling final, they managed to outplay the excellent Swiss.
The decisive goal was scored by the one the whole nation was expecting it from: David Pastrňák. But not only he and the other big names from the NHL, but all the other players, including those who for various reasons didn't even play in the final matches, deserve our gratitude and admiration. On this team, every single person was a star in the best sense of the word: from goalie Dostál to the substitutes. The same goes for the coaching staff... and last but not least, for the amazing fans who transformed themselves into the proverbial seventh player and the entire Czech Republic into a hockey kingdom.
The journey to gold is expertly and engagingly described by publicist and former hockey player Tomáš Procházka, who has a lifelong connection to the game. His text is complemented by photographs, statistics, team rosters and a whole range of interesting facts and observations.
The book PRAGANO – Czech Triumph at the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship follows on from his successful publications Nagano 1998 or The Tournament of the Century Through the Eyes of the Champions and Prague 1985 – Gold from the Home Championship.
