Afrodita Rossová, a young linguist and historian, completed her studies at prestigious foreign universities and returned to the Czech Republic after the Velvet Revolution. She inherited a decent fortune from her parents, is pretty, smart and loves her job. In connection with the apparent suicide of a professor from the faculty, she is approached by a former classmate, Jan, for whom she begins translating the diary of William of Lipá from Latin. In it he stumbles upon a message about a hidden Templar treasure. Together they begin to search for him, and Aphrodite's fate bears a striking resemblance to that of the 16th century. Events from the distant past seem to come to life and everything is heading towards a dramatic climax, in which the murderer is revealed, love and betrayal are not missing and, of course, the legacy of the Templars.
